Lyrics

Arrived

1. Have A Nice Day

Frozen Margaritas and a deep blue sea
Smashing beauties smile at me
My dreams were cut… quite suddenly
I hit the car in front of me
On the radio they said
Traffic jam on the interstate

Chorus:

Have a nice day
Enjoy your life, don`t waste time away

Nukewaste dumped at the disposal site
Went to the street `cause that`s my right
Didn`t get far… cops all around
They stopped me, pushed me to the ground
Then clubbed me on my head
And that is what they said…

Chorus:

Have a nice day
Enjoy your life, don`t waste time away

5, 8, 10, 16, 25 and 44
Hit the jackpot, ain`t gotta work no more
Then suddenly… the shock was great
Saw that I missed the closing date
All my dreams went down the drain
And I`ve got to slog again…

Chorus:

Have a nice day
Enjoy your life, don`t waste time away

2 . I Ain’t Care

Yeah, I feel young and I feel old
Sometimes feel hot, sometimes feel cold
One day I leave, next day I’m back
Paint the wall white, tomorrow black
Now I am rich, poor the next day
Sometimes I spend, sometimes can’t pay

Chorus:

I’ve been up and I’ve been fallin’
and I’m flyin’right now
I ain’t care what you are sayin’,
I go my own way, I go my own way anyhow

I am in heaven, then I’m in hell
One day feel bad and then feel well
I love the rain, enjoy the sun
I want to stay, but I got to run
I want peace, but I start to fight
I love the darkness and I miss the light

I wake up early, I get up late
I can forgive and I can hate
I want to live and I want to die
I’m stepping down and I’m jumping high
Sometimes I’m slow, sometimes I’m fast
Now I’m the first, then I’m the last

Chorus:

I’ve been up and I’ve been fallin’
and I’m flyin’right now
I ain’t care what you are sayin’,
I go my own way, I go my own way anyhow

3. The cool cat

Born in 1985, on the other side of town
Mum and Dad both had two jobs, have hardly been at home
He hang around with other kids, and soon he understood
To make it big you must become, the cool cat in the ‚hood

At night kept watch for “Jacker Joe”, pushed grass and sometimes more ,
Or mugged a boy on the way from school, ‘cause he liked the cap he wore
He spread fear to command respect, any way he could
So everyone would recognize, the cool cat in the ‘hood

He made it big and he dressed sharp, his suits were tailor made
Drove by in his fancy car, pursued his shady trade
Sneered as he collected grift, was sure nobody would
Try to mess around…

A shot rang out through the night, ass he left “Josie’s Bar”
He was hit and he went down, beside his fancy car
He move no more, he met his match and was gone for good
That was the end of Johnny B., the cool cat in the ‚hood

4. Rose

Dying candles on the table, fading into dawn
the night seemed short, we’re still around
talk about the good old days

And changed the world a hundred times, with no sign of discord
or just fell silent, with eyes closed
and dwelling back on thoughts

Chorus:

There’s one rose in the whiskey jar
a witness of this night
leaves wrinkled as my aging face
and I just feel all right

Birds were singing their first tunes, to greet an early day
Bidding welcome to a peaceful morn`
Kept trouble far away

Chorus:

There’s one rose in the whiskey jar
a witness of this night
leaves wrinkled as my aging face
and I just feel all right

5. Road Song

I was sitting in my old Corvette – gas was running low
No money in my pocket still hundred miles to go
The road was clear I was cruising slow but the cops flagged me down
You broke the limit by 5 miles that’s not allowed in town

If you cannot pay the fine you’ll go to jail they said
And tomorrow you will see the judge unless a bail is paid
They pushed me in the police car then threw me in the cell
The cop laughed said “enjoy your stay at the Chain Ball Hotel”

Chorus:

If you ever come to Desert Ville
Remember what I’ve said
Better stop and turn around
Before it is too late

‘Cause even you don’t break the law
They’ll make you pay
To fill their pockets with your bucks
So better stay away

Next morning then I saw the judge he told me with a smile
5 months without parole you get that’s one month for each mile
I was shocked, I stared at him 5 months that ain’t no fun
5 months for someth’n I didn’t do I knew I had to run

I turned around dashed to the door too late they realized
That I was trying to escape I caught them by surprise
The cops ain’t got a chance this time ‘cause I sped off too fast
I made it to the borderline and I was free at last

Chorus:

If you ever come to Desert Ville
Remember what I’ve said
Better stop and turn around
Before it is too late

‘Cause even you don’t break the law
They’ll make you pay
To fill their pockets with your bucks
So better stay away

6. Going Home

Sun’s going down, shadows are long
Birds stop singing their happy song
Soon darkness will cover the light
Another day over –here comes the night

Chorus:

I’m on the road for so long
Soon reach the place where I belong

For many years I’ve been travelling now
Was lucky and found my way somehow
Saw sunshine, clouds and hail and rain
I wish I could walk this trail once again

Chorus:

Thanks to all who walked the road
Along with me help carrying my load
Thanks for the good days that we had
Thanks being around at times good and bad

Chorus:

Can already see the end of the track
Soon reach the finish line won’t come back
I hope my journey was not in vain
And one day we might meet again

Chorus:

I’m on the road for so long
Soon reach the place where I belong
Have peace and a fire will keep me warm
A few miles more and I’ll be home
Have peace and a fire will keep me warm
A few miles more and I’ll be home

7. Timbuktu

It’s 6 a.m. and it’s dark like in hell
My dreams are cut by the alarm clock bell
Got to get up and be on my way
It’s another crazy working day
I know exactly what to expect
Better take the bottle and try to forget

It’s like always, again and again
In 30 minutes I’ll be on the train
Get to the office, just half awake
And I wonder how much longer I can take it
Chasing around just for the dough
And no end in sight, still too long to go

Chorus:

This ain’t no life just hear what I say
Soon I’ll pack up and I’ll run away
Back to the basics leave the rat race behind
Sitting in the sun having my peace of mind
Don’t need no sports car, no fancy dress too
I’ll hit the road to Timbuktu

The sun is shining and I want to go home
But I’m sitting in the office my ear on the phone
Talking to people I don’t wanna meet
I’m getting hungry but no time to eat
No time for a break, no time for a smoke
Just fighting for money man ain’t no joke

Chorus:

This ain’t no life just hear what I say
Soon I’ll pack up and I’ll run away
Back to the basics leave the rat race behind
Sitting in the sun having my peace of mind
Don’t need no sports car, no fancy dress too
I’ll hit the road to Timbuktu

8. Lay Me Down

I raise my head and set my sail
In the eye of the storm and the belly of a whale
My spirit stood on solid ground
I’ll be at peace when they lay me down

When I was a child I cried
Until my needs were satisfied
My needs have grown pound for pound
I’ll be at peace when they let me down

Chorus:

When they lay me down someday
My soul will rise and fly away
This old world will turn around
I’ll be at peace when then lay me down

This life isn’t fair it seems
It’s filled with tears and broken dreams
There are no tears where I am bound
And I’ll be at peace when they lay me down

Chorus:

When they lay me down someday
My soul will rise and fly away
This old world will turn around
I’ll be at peace when then lay me down

When they lay me down someday
My soul will rise and fly away
This old world will turn around
I’ll be at peace when then lay me down

When I was a child I cried

9. Copperhead Road

Well my name’s John Lee Pettimore
Same as my daddy and his daddy before
You hardly ever saw Grandaddy down here
He only came to town about twice a year
He’d buy a hundred pounds of yeast and some copper line
Everybody knew that he made moonshine
Now the revenue man wanted Grandaddy bad
He headed up the holler with everything he had
It’s before my time but I’ve been told
He never came back from Copperhead Road

Now Daddy ran the whiskey in a big block Dodge
Bought it at an auction at the Mason’s Lodge
Johnson County Sheriff painted on the side
Just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside
Well him and my uncle tore that engine down
I still remember that rumblin‘ sound
Well the sheriff came around in the middle of the night
Heard mama cryin‘, knew something wasn’t right
He was headed down to Knoxville with the weekly load
You could smell the whiskey burnin‘ down Copperhead Road
I volunteered for the Army on my birthday
They draft the white trash first,’round here anyway
I done two tours of duty in Vietnam
And I came home with a brand new plan
I take the seed from Colombia and Mexico
I plant it up the holler down Copperhead Road
Well the D.E.A.’s got a chopper in the air
I wake up screaming like I’m back over there
I learned a thing or two from ol‘ Charlie don’t you know
You better stay away from Copperhead Road

10. Don’t Ring My Bell, Man

Don’t tell me what’s good for me – Don’t tell me what I have to see
Don’t force me to follow you – Cause I won’t do

Don’t lie to me with a gleeful grin – Don’t show me where I should have been
Don’t tell me where I have to go – Cause you don’t know

Don’t make no rules I won’t obey – Don’t block the road stand in my way
Don’t fool around and push me down – Leave me alone

Don’t bother me to change my mind – Don’t think that I am deaf and blind
Don’t offer me your lamest trade – To piss on my parade

Than live would be just oh so fine
Birds be singin’ in the skies
But you still try to hack my brain
You’re drivin’ me insane

Chorus:

Don’t ring my bell, man
You got nothing to sell, man
You ‘re not my pal, man
So listen well
Don’t make no swell , man
Go freeze in hell, man
Don’t leave your smell, man
Don’t ring my bell

Don’t make no rules that I won’t meet – Don’t cook things I don’t wanna eat
Don’t terrorize me on the phone – Leave me alone

Don´t come close or call on me – Don’t hang around where I might be
Don’t pretend you mean it well – Don’t ring my bell

Than live would be just oh so fine
Birds be singin’ in the skies
But you still try to hack my brain
You’re drivin’ me insane

Chorus:

Don’t ring my bell, man
You got nothing to sell, man
You ‘re not my pal, man
So listen well
Don’t make no swell , man
Go freeze in hell, man
Don’t leave your smell, man
Don’t ring my bell
